Yes it does matter whether I was a life long liberal or not..it matters because in no way, did I want it to be the fault of someone to whom I entrusted my vote which leads me to question whether I played a role in electing someone who let 9/11 happen.. And in my opinion, I did.. since we see events through the lens of our present beliefs, not our past ones. Our present beliefs are informed by past events.. edit: our present beliefs are also informed by past teachings..I was raised by a father whose life work has been to find the truth without care about where and from whom it comes..
