Oh... (you mean 'reassigned to other tasks'... such as 'cybersecurity'... must be careful to use the PC description....)

I *assume* because he was too loud, too persistent, on an issue they didn't really want to hear about... and just wished would 'go away'.

That, and after decades on the job, ANYONE is entitled to grow weary of government.

Very interesting:

Goldman's tweaks to it's commodity index force near-term gasoline futures prices sharply (but possibly *temporarily*) DOWNWARD.

Bush approval poll numbers strongly negatively correlated to gasoline prices. (Coincidence, of course....)
