I have no links to substantiate this right now..I recall that both on Clinton's and Bush's watch, they received info from overseas intel folk that there were plans to use airplanes for catastrophic type terrorist events..imo, if they had alerted the only the airlines so as not to cause panic in case they were not true, they could have done something to prevent it.. For sure as Dale said, it's all hind-sight at this point..and I do believe that if Clinton and Bush had realized how real and imminent the possibility of using planes as torpedoes, they would have done anything in their power, including nukes, to stop them.. Instead, we get finger wagging from both parties, millions upon millions of $$ wasted on smearing eachother(while there are thousands of American children that go to bed hungry every night), dividing and pigeon-holing us citizens depending on our opinion of a particular detail of policies, so that we end up quarreling, talking[screaming] at eachother, and clutching to our views for dear life..it's this that makes me wanna' holler..we, the citizens of this country, are suffering the most..these politicians will fly in private planes, they will come and go out of office..yet, we will be here to deal.. I wish we could remember that no matter what, we all want the same thing..peace and bounty..and it's impossible to have it when we ordinary folk are this divided..we can take power and not let ourselves be manipulated by neither the Dems or Repubs for their own selfish interests..
