I very much doubt that polygamy is necessarily as "twisted" as you allege. It is only societies that have become pretty advanced that frown on it. Not to say it is never "twisted," only that in most of human history, it was an accepted way of life.

What exactly would you have the LDS church do to the polygamous offshoots? Kill them all? They're excummunicated, which is about all I can see is within the power of the church.

Further, I object to your "you'd care if you were female" comment. Millions, maybe billions, of women may or may not "care." Not because of their gender, but because of their cultural upbringing. Feminism isn't necessarily an altruistic goal for the entire world.
