OT: It's the exact same situation in Afghanistan, yet another complicating factor that undermines the black and white view of the promulgators of this war.

Actually, I've been pleasing to see signs that all of the powerful United Statian decisions makers except for Bush and Rumsfeld are waking up to the fact that this has become a guerilla war, and that trying to fight a guerilla war by conventional almost inevitably leads to failure.
