100 - As regards the Vodafone conversion rate I guess you are interpolating that for the EU market. Might be a good proxy. BUT take a look at the O2 UK site. Theyhave some really great looking new phones coming out in October. There is a series fo Sony Ericsson handsets with 3megapixel cameras and all the MP3 gizmos you could ask for and a fancy video camera all built in.

Vodaphone hasn't had very interesting handsets. Their site looks a bit dull and boring 3g handsets. Consumers are smart and they know that a 1.2 or 2Megapixel camera is old news.

T-Mobile has a fancy new MDA 3G device and the other ISPs may also have some new goodies to sell.

And then there is the Nokia N-95 which I think is great. When will that be avaialble in Europe?

I think the problem in Europe has been the lack of really interesting product but I think that is going to change in Q4.

Anyway take a look and I look forward to your views.

Best,

L

100cfm, Re: QCOM disappointments and--

“$1.85-$2 a share in 07 would be disappointing also. Most wcdma projections I've seen call for 200M+ units in 07. Add on another 200M+ in cdma sales hopefully then we are in range of a half a billion devices for 07. For Q to earn even at the high range only $2 means ASPs have fallen dramaticly and or R&D expenses has continued to sky rocket. Both not good things for the stock.”

My how some of us have gotten spoiled over the years!!!

Many companies and their investors would die for the numbers the Q has / continues to produce.
Further, driving down 3GSM (WCDMA) ASP’s is a major part of the Q’s mission statement as that drives the uptake of WCDMA and supports the Q’s business model against the NOK6 /(POS) erroneous / hypocritical anti-competitive claims.
