combjelly,

"A member of the House leadership told me that Foley, under continuous political pressure because of his sexual orientation

Sexual orientation does not automatically make one a pedophile, or whatever the term is for the one who seeks adolescents. Unless you are saying that that "trait" of his (seeking young "partners") was known.

cj,

As I posted, I could certainly live with a number of scandals involving a number of known Republicans if every one of thos cases caused a change by the Democrats from being pro-criminal to being a law and order party.

You may not believe it, but I am really enjoying it. The only worry is that once this opportunity to grab political power (by pretending to be a law and order, culturally conservative) passes, the Dems will revert to their default position of being the advocates of criminals and anything goes when it comes to behaviour.

Novak writes, "A member of the House leadership told me that Foley, under continuous political pressure because of his sexual orientation, was considering not seeking a seventh term this year but that Rep. Tom Reynolds, chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), talked him into running."

Note: this was after the leadership definitely knew about Foley. Some protectors these guys are. Yep, welfare of the pages was upper most on their minds...

Unbelievable. And then the same Reynolds tried to exonerate himself by saying he told his 'supervisor' of Foley's follies as if Hastert hired him. Forget about being protectors........these people haven't learned yet to take responsibility for themselves.
