The Democrats were the lesser evil in 1996. And Diebold took care of 2004 because the margins were thin.

(From kos)

You'd think after Katrina, FEMA'd be a no-brainer. A political hot potato that Bush wouldn't mess with. Well, you're wrong. Congress tried....Bush just denied:

Bush's signing statement Wednesday challenges several other provisions in the Homeland Security spending bill.

Bush, for example, said he'd disregard a requirement that the director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency must have at least five years experience and "demonstrated ability in and knowledge of emergency management and homeland security."

His rationale was that it "rules out a large portion of those persons best qualified by experience and knowledge to fill the office."

Duh! So Dumbyass wants to get another Brownie in?! Brownie had no emergency management experience. He only had experience picking the manure of Arabian racehorses or something. Dumbass not only thought that was good enough, he CONTINUES TO BELIEVE IT!

The GOP needs about 8 years to remake itself as honest, ethical, moral people, not criminal scoundrels in bed with the worst kind of special interests.

That's basically what we have now. The influence of crooks like Delay, Cheney and Rove needs to be totally exorcized from the party. Then and only then can they be trusted again.
And I don't leave out Bush. He's responsible for those three.

Gingrich also turned out to be crooked. But at least in 1994 he sounded good.

I would look to new leaders like Chuck Hagel.
