So why then is the Quad Core Opteron being selected for Crays Supercomputers, and it hasn't even been to Tom's. Hasn't put out a single benchmark.

Maybe the Front Side Bus on the Kentsfield doesn't access memory as well as the Opteron.

Let us allow Intel to be the judge on how good Kentsfield is compared to a true Quad Core Chip. Pray tell, what is their next generation Quad going to be, the two duo "Quasi" Quads or the single die.

Forget about the B.S. that it's cheaper and has better yields, that isn't it now nor has it ever been the proper criteria. It doesn't get through the bottleneck imposed upon it by the Marketing guru. So why is it that the brilliant Intel design teams can't duplicate the DCA, after all, they managed to copy the 64bit extensions and no execute anti-virus codes.

Let me give you a hint why they can't produce a proper DCA, it's called Chipset revenues. Again, it's all about margins, more money for Intel, and less performance for the customers.

That's the point you never want to get, Intel is pushing the greed button too vigorously. Somebody has to pay for all the ad-ventures they embarked on, (the new business ventures that failed and the 80 core chip of the next century).
