I figured it was more of an underhanded effort to put more pressure on Hastert to bail. Just a guess, of course. I guess once they found they couldn't get away with labeling Foley a Democrat, they had to go to Plan B.

My take: "Its the corruption stupid". That is the focus of the next Presidential election. Every issue will be seen in terms of corruption and ethics. Both parties will struggle to find people who do not appear to be lying, self-serving, thieving, sleazoid sell-outs.

McCain will be the next President -- he is already positioning himself for this race as the only guy they are likely to find with honor, honesty and guts, as well as a relatively clean record on corruption.
