Al, > given the level of distaste engendered by bush and his team around the world, do you suppose that there may be countries out there that would love nothing better than to see us fail in Asia as well as in Iraq? Think about who they might be.

No need to tell me, Al, despite the personna I seem to exhibit at times. You and I could probably share a lot of incidents where America was indeed doing nothing but being a big bad superpower.

Not that the anti-Americanism is any more rational in itself. I get pretty discouraged whenever I see America being held to a much higher standard than any other country. Maybe we create that for ourselves simply because we're a "superpower that cares," for better or for worse. After all, we're America, no? We're supposed to set an example for the rest of the world. Except that we fall short big time.
