Fin,

I really don't want to get too deep into economics because I recognise how little I know about the topic. Its true (I think) that Keynes said during a recession or a depression governments should not worry about deficits. But we haven't been in a recession or a depression recently. And Keynes' idea was (I think) that during a strong economy the government should be paying down debt so it had a healthy balance sheet ready for the next recession. This is emphatically NOT what Bush and Co. have been doing, and we will all pay the price.
