"I also see no need for believers to apologize for having inaccurately attributed supernaturalness to naturalness"

Har! Tell that to the virgins thrown into a volcano to appease the gods. Or the biblical cities destroyed because they were an affront to God. Or to Mr Scopes for teaching evolution.

I also see no need for believers to apologize for having inaccurately attributed supernaturalness to naturalness prior to having a more thorough understanding of the nature of a thing. When Aristotle flubbed on spontaneous generation, we did not reject the validity of the scientific method.

Agreed.

or some such wistful words of wisdom as 'just let it be'eee'.

Here in Toronto my daughter, then 11 was in a summer camp called Arts Adventure... They put on a musical... One song was Let it Be... with somebody substituted for Mother Mary so as to offend nobody... I comment on this to one coordinator... who answered ... well wasn't he (John Lennon) Catholic or something... that was the rationale... Meanwhile the younger kids performed a number to the Time Warp I thought it a little surreal to censor Let it Be but not the innuendo of the Time Warp...

I shouldda worn my fishnets... ;O)
