I believe the US will not want to leave Iraq.
Simply because Iraq is a convenient stepping stone to Iran.
I believe this was in the US plans at the outset in connection with their PNAC (Projects for a New American Century).

It seems to me that control of Iraq and Iran is vital to being able to challenge the power of China and Russia, thereby enabling the US to build, overtime, an oil pipeline from Northern Afghanistan to the Mediterranean.

It is interesting to note that, not too long ago, Cheney has tried to curry favour with NuruSultan of Astana/Kazakhstan for oil but without much success. And the US has been attempting to foment dissension in Central Asia. No luck, so far!
