The last Presidential election which was fought on issues that I can remember was in 1996. Since then, the ugly stick has been wielded every election.

Result? The nation came to be awed "by the brilliance of Karl Rove." The partisan politics even took its toll on people who won Purple Hearts, those who lost their limbs in wars defending this country and its principles and respected war heroes. We watched as civility was cast aside when the VP used the "F" word by whispering it in the ears of one of his opponents on the floor of the Senate, the only chamber in the world which maintains its dignified reputation (the House of Lords does not come close)

I hope the American people take back their country in November and restore its past glory, dignity and strength.

In the past when America talked, the world listened. Today when America talks, the world laughs.

Hi Dale,

I, too, am sick of these negative ads and attitudes. To think of all the money spent on these ads...and I question whether many people even pay attention to them. I've gotten so I just switch channels or don't listen to them.

My husband and I for a very long time have watched news programs and things of that nature. We make a point of watching Meet the Press almost every week. However, even that has gotten to be less than interesting. Why? You hear the same old thing over and over. These people basically stay on message. You mostly hear nothing new...just the SAME OLD MESSAGE. Republicans keep using "Cut and run"...Democrats keep saying "No weapons of mass destruction" along with other things we hear again and again. To show you how misleading some of these messages are by individual candidates opposing each other in the upcoming election, one candidate for congress the other day stated that his opponent didn't vote for body armour for our troops. When the opponent had a chance to reply, she said she didn't even hold a seat in congress to be part of the vote!
