Cobalt, it is hard to imagine this president ordering our troops to leave just because Iraqis told him to leave. Even I find that hard to believe. I imagine Iraqis don't believe it at all. What Bush says isn't always true (We have data from the beginning of the Iraq adventure that shows us that, for whatever reason, Bush says things that are false, as do others in his admin.)

It's not about lies and rumors; it's about speculating on just how disingenuous this admin can be. The track record isn't good for them, quite frankly. You don't have to be a true believer in anything to suspect that the truth and nothing but the truth is NOT what turns up in Bush speeches.

>> We've already handed over about half of the bases to Iraqi forces.

So what? That was not my point. Do you have any indication that we would leave *all* our bases? What about all those comments on "projecting power" to the rest of ME and relocating Saudi bases, and so forth?

>> Do you ever actually listen to what Bush says

Everytime I don't like what the Comedy Channel has on.

>> we'll leave when the Iraqi people are ready to take over their own security and they ask us to leave.

How quaint! We dismantle the police and all security infrastructure. We create an atmosphere of fear and hate. And then we say that we will leave when Iraqis are ready. How and when are they going to get "ready"? And by the way, poll after poll has shown that the wast majority of Iraqis want us out of Iraq and believe our tenure there creates more problems than it solves. Just how should the people ask us to leave?
