OK, but my original argument was, to paraphrase, if the violence is intended to frighten others from supporting the existing government because the killers want to rule, that makes sense. If they're doing it because they want to hasten our withdrawal, that doesn't make sense. The son-in-law of a client of mine is leaving, even as we speak, for a third tour of duty in Baghdad, kicking down doors to find the murderers and stop them. Purely voluntary reinlistment, he doesn't want to leave while his men are still there performing their mission.
