>>>>>How about a quick primer in club building and correct length

simple as can be...
I'll tell you how I do it...
=========================================
Build the "big stick" (driver)

buy about a hunnert different wood shafts and a half a dozen driver heads

epoxy each of the shafts into EACH of the heads, install a grip, swing weight it to ... oh say D2 ... and start off with about 45 in length

hit each head with each shaft about a hunnert practice balls at the driving range .. keep notes

heat the hosel and pull shaft out of head

now,of course, you need to experiment with various swing weights and lengths for each of the heads whilst arriving at a decision.

repeat the above exercise with duplicate shafts of the ones you REALLY like best in about a half dozen 3 wood heads

then buy about a hunnert iron shafts *(these are different tip size than the above mentioned wood shafts

buy 5 iron heads of about two-three dozen makes and repeat the first step of assembly mentioned in the opening of this post

then of the shafts you REALLY like best buy a couple EACH of them and buy a half dozen or so of the full iron sets and go back to step one ....

there you are ---- just the TIP of the club building iceberg
------------------------------------------
here is the way Blue does it

go into the
ProShop
say "money is NO object
give me the BEST sticks ya got"

---------------------------------------------

I have my way and Blue has his

as to the end result --- when Blue makes a bad shot, he can blame it on the sticks ... I can NOT

his way is most likely cheaper than is mine

but, I know my sticks are as good as can be and he has to depend upon a pro's subjective judgement and commission structure .... hehehehehehe
