Nonetheless, what you found supports my view that extremists on either side of the spectrum tend to be closed-minded. It's only logical that that would be so.

I think the point made was that the "liberal" threads are the least tolerant. They show bookmark/ban ratios of 3:1, 4:1 and 2:1, whereas the right of center threads have far fewer bans.

Care to explain that result?

For some reason comparing ratio of 3:1 to 13:1 and saying they are equivalent seems odd.

Yes, the Kerry subject has a current ratio that makes it appear to be tolerant, but the fact remains it has had over 30 bans, and I seem to recall it in the 40 ban range. That was leading up to the 2004 election when democrats were deluded by fraudulent polls into thinking Kerry had a chance.
