So called drjohn:

Still have an F for reading comprehension. Merom doesn't have a 1333MHz FSB. It doesn't have a 1066MHz FSB. It doesn't even have a 800MHz FSB. It just has a 667MHZ FSB. Just like Core Duo (ULVs have a slower 533MHz FSB). What is limiting memory speed is not the notebook OEM, its Intel and their Centrino IGP NB with the FSB. It uses only a single channel of PC2-5400. No AMD AM2 or S1 notebook needs to be that slow. They can use a twin PC2-6400 (or even faster). Any IGP chipset for AMD can use all of that.

The only current CPU Intel has that can use twin PC2-5400 is Woodcrest. Problem is that no Intel chipset supports DDR2 with a 1333MHz FSB. Those for Woodcrest use FB-DIMMs. An OEM could overclock a Conroe to push the FSB to 1333MHz, but no OEM would do that as it would void the warranty.

Face the fact, Intel's notebook IGPs are limited to one 667MHz DDR2 channel. IGPs for AMD are not so limited. TOUGH!
