You can trust me on this one: The crack heads and drug addicts prey on people that don't fight back! If they think you can identify them, the will kill you over $20! In rural Georgia the small towns can't afford the $35 a day it cost to incarcerate the criminals so they focus on traffic violations and DUI's, which bring in cash. Drug offenders generally receive probation or community service. That leaves the law abiding community to fend for themselves. I was talking to the police lt. in Centerville,Ga. and he told me that this laid back little town has 150 unsolved felonies on the books. I asked him how many he thought were drug related and he disgustedly replied "Probably ALL of them". I've known this man for about 15 years and he is a no-nonsense kind of guy so, without saying it, he told me that his hands are tied when it comes to fighting crime.
