You're right Maurice...It IS 16 Great Great Grandparents....5 Generations on the same chart....And all of them here before 1850.... I grant you, it is somewhat unusual, and I was surprised to find that was true.... I've done seriously genealogy for nearly 30 years, and have gathered old letters, pictures, and various items long before then. It really is a personal history search, into the times and places they lived. I was MOST surprised to find 4 of the 16 from Luxemborg! None of my family really had any idea that was true....

One of the most interesting things to me is that people who came from Europe very seldom ever left their villages and what we would call local communities (maybe 50 miles in diameter) .....

It may be why many of the Europeans have no concept of what it is really like in America. Many of them, still today, have not been out of their own local areas. Many of them really have no conception of what and how large in territory and ethnic experience our citizens are.
