If cruelty and torture were the key to power, Rome never would have fallen, and the Inquisition would still be with us. While I applaud Cheney for his desire to "win", it's unfortunate that not only is he willing to throw away his humanity (and just what are we fighting for, if not for the humane values of our civilization?), but he's willing to throw it out for something that doesn't even work. Talk about holding your values cheaply.
