The main point that you continue to ignore is that Turkey's denial of passage through Turkey caused the order of active duty rotations to be changed. The first infantry was in Italy poised to lead the charge from the North. When turkey stranded them in Italy, Marines that were to be held back lead the flanking charge around Bagdahd to get to the North.

Infantry would have rotated out instead of Marines. It has been said that they were slated for MP duty to hold the peace after the liberation. Early on, untrained Army infantry made many enemies because they treated Iraqi people with greater suspicion than trained MP would have. They were less deferential than Marines would have likely been.

Great people rise up to overcome the curve balls that circumstances throws at them. the Army troops did learn to make friends instead of treating all natives as enemies. But damage was done.

When you criticise the execution of the liberation without making any allowances, you take the side of our enemies.
