The ratio of bookmarks to bans is probably just an interesting artifact rather than a deeply meaningful indicator. I've watched people for over ten years on SI, and the most atrocious behavior is exhibited by left wingers. I could name a few examples, though I dislike talking about people behind their back. However, if you are curious enough, check out the ban list for this thread. It's pretty short, but ask almost anyone about the characters on it and they'll tell you that their behavior was tolerated for a LONG time before they were banned. It was really quite intolerable. Some of the worst offenders were excommunicated by SI management, they were so bad. I stand my ground, but I do my best to be objective and civil. Nevertheless, several left wingers have seen fit to ban me from posting on their threads merely because they can't stand to have their biases challenged in a civil manner. I would prefer that everyone who wants to exchange ideas be civil and tolerant of each other's views. That does not seem to be possible.
