This may be wishful thinking as long as Israel fails to resolve its long-standing problem with the displaced and much-repressed Palestinian people. What a good joke. The Arab world cares little about the Pals, who are at the mercy of their leaders. So long as they suffer from corruption, pathological antisemitism, ill-governanace, lack of vision, the notion that "martyrdom" is OK, and all the ills which would afflict them even if Israel were on another continent, they will be the poster boys and girls for Arab whining. Rarely in the history of the modern world has a people been as dysfunctional as the Palestinians. It is the Haiti of the Middle East but with enough excuses, scapegoats, and silly rationalizations to fill the Sahara. Afrasiabi's article is just more of the same pap, but better written. Afrasiabi doesn't even begin to deal with the issue which Feldman highlighted, that the doctrinal sea change in Islam from prohibiting suicide to approving so-called "martyrdom" and the apparent acceptance of "martyrdom" by a significant portion of Muslims, perhaps even a strong majority, creates enormous difficulties with respect to traditional notions of nuclear deterrence because the next step from accepting suicide/"martyrdom" is the acceptance of the sacrifice of Muslim populations to a retaliatory strike after first use by Iran or some other lunatic Muslim nuclear power. And you can thank the Pals for the widespread current acceptance of "martyrdom" within Islam. So long as Iran is led by members of a cult, so long as it uses terror groups as its cat's paw, and so long as its leaders deny the Holocaust as the culmination of their murderous antisemitism, it cannot be allowed to have nuclear weapons.
