We seem to have different opinions of the job of the president as well as what a political job really means.

IMO, the government is the government of all the people and not just the government of those who voted for it.

But the president is elected in order to create and implement polices. In a representative democracy with division of powers, the president has to get support in the other branches to put his policies in place.

He isn't primarily a manager. He doesn't have set policies which he is expected to enforce dispassionately. He is expected to create and modify polices, and lead people to support them. Politics is not something you can separate from such a job.

And politics doesn't mean "just being president for the people who voted for you". You do what you think is right for the country, but presidents presumably think their policies are right for the country, and they need political support if they are actually going to implement and maintain their policies.
