Looks like the tax will be on the investor, not the trust.

Mr. Flaherty said he plans to tax payouts received by investors from income trusts, but will give a four-year exemption to existing trusts such as Yellow Pages Income Fund and Canadian Oil Sands Trust.

thanks. looks like COS got hit about 10%. my guess is this is political suicide and it will be toned down over time. but we shall see.
