--- good post billy, as sad as this subject actually is for Americans, I do admit that I love those cartoons.

... another report worth reading is Chan's special gold report, just came out this afternoon, "The Golden Triangles, Part II". Report will likely surface at 321gold.com this weekend.

-- Folks, we have serious fiscal problems, and they won't be solved easily. Yeah, federal tax revenues have been up a bit lately, but it is naive to think the problem is going away....this is nothing in the face of projected federal spending. The White House has been hiding the actual cost of the Iraq adventure in numerous supplental appropriations, and massaging existing Pentagon budgetary line items to fool Congress and the public as to the exact cost of this fiasco.

Do you have ANY idea the cost of deploying 150,000 troops to Iraq, along with countless DOD and State Dept contracts and subcontracts in the Theatre of Opns? Billions for military and civilian labor, material, replacement costs for material, equipment, vehicles, aircraft, and weapons damaged or destroyed. Billions for medical care in the Theatre and long term disability costs for wounded military personnel. Billions for supplies, thats beans and bullets, rations, messing, etc. And much of this is being provided by DOD contracts. The old Army Quartermaster Corps has been superseeded by Haliburton, et al, to get the G.I.s three hot meals a day, laundry service, cleaning services, etc, and it ain't cheap boys and girls.

This doesn't even begin to include the cost of standing up a new Iraqi Army, and that job is in the first inning. We are just now completing basic training for the Iraqi Army and police, they have no military logistics system. We (American taxpayers) are not only funding our own military in the Theatre, but we are paying to supply and equip this new Iraqi Army...thats billions and billions more dollars.

Iraq will drain blood from this country for years to come, as long as we have a White House determined to "stay the course".

u add enough billions, and u get trillions.

I would love to hear how Rubin, Uncle Ben, and the Goldman Sachs silk-stocking crowd will pull rabbits out of the hat and make all these problems go away, and force those silly gold bugs wake up to the truth.

my guess is those here bashing gold have been drinking the Kool-aid at too many GOP fundraisers lately.

got gold?
