By any standard, we won the the war ON (not in) Iraq.

The WOT, though is a different thing. IMO, we're confusing terms. Iraq, the nation as it was, is defeated; but to say that we can defeat all our enemies IN Iraq would be a whole new question, and to imply that terrorists in Iraq are the only limit to the current war just doesn't take the facts into account.

We accomplished the stated goals of the Iraq war a year-and-a-half ago. But as you know, the war on terrorism will persist indefinitely.

I am against nation building and using our troops as peacekeepers in areas of civil war or sectarian violence. The reward from such engagements is not great enough to justify the sacrifice, in my opinion.
