Would they be that aggressive without unchecked busheviks backing them up, egging them on? ... you don't hear so much of the neocons any more, invading countries seems to have gone out of fashion for the moment, nobody ballyhooing the PNAC now, as the bills for the first attempt start to roll in

Also, wouldn't it make US exit from the Bush war in Iraq a whole lot easier if they got some kind of cooperation from the winners of that war - the mad priests who run Iran? ... maybe nukes are not such a big deal after all, if the guys after them help you out when you screw up royally ... who else but the mullahs could wind down the civil war, with their influence over the dominating shi'a

This election just caps trends in progress already, maybe, brings them to wider public attention ... big sigh of relief all over the world today, at seeing that swaggering arrogance get a comeuppance, maybe a bit of hope toward real international cooperation, even [i'm watching Bush say 'I'm the decider' as i type this, lol] ... Rumsfeld canned and a daddy-Bush man in his place, hey that's a sign - to the extent that the PoG had a war-risk premium, it would logically sell off, no? ... pretty hard to quantify that premium, of course, and all the other problems remain with us, also new problems will come along for sure, but near-term and all other things being equal, i find it easy to imagine gold selling off some for this reason
