The opposition has the power and the will to intimidate the "civilians" when needed -- we do not. Besides, as you noticed, the "civilians" have the same basic beliefs as those who fight against us. This is the fallacy of your reasoning. In this case the civilians are the people we are fighting. The British had a heck of a time figuring out what to do about it during the War of Independence. You need to fight this kind of war with snipers and people trained to fight guerrillas, not the US Army. After several decades of relative peace and prosperity we have become soft, tolerant, and very... humane. It will take a lot to seriously piss off America and the rest of the West -- but an impossible task it isn't Ah, but the left immediately wonders what the Americans did to cause the problem. The first step in reality is to identify your enemy and then kill him.
