Your logic is off. If we're going to try to figure out which party is more diverse using numbers, I think using the percentage of blacks in the population as the comparison figure would make more sense.

Roughly 12% of the population is black. Thus, black people were represented among Democratic House candidates in about the same proportion as they exist in the population at large.

Dems are also going to have the first female Speaker of the House. ;-)
