Interesting to see that your party, the GOP, is considered a dangerous loose cannon type of party by most of the rest of the world. Why are so many in this country out of step? Is it that they just watch Lost and sports and are continually hoodwinked; or is it that they know something the rest of the world does not..

Gerrymandering stopped the GOP loss of 50 more seats, pal.
You look at those safe districts they created and you can plainly see, some of the most egregious sinners on the GOP rightwing who deserved to be severely punished were protected by being given new all-white conservative districts. People like Duncan Hunter, Doolittle, Jerry Lewis, Denny Hastert, Blunt, on and on.

Sure there are some good Republicans who deserved to win, but not that many. Also, the only way they could beat Harold Ford was to resort to racist ads, which they denied were racist. And if there had been any ethics investigations over the past six years plenty more GOP corporate lobbyist-suckers would be exposed and out of jobs too, like the Hunter-Lewis-Doolittle types mentioned above, all of whom were in with Cunningham and Abramoff.

There are still some very big crooks in the GOP congress. Hopefully, they can be rooted out a la Cunningham, Ney, Jefferson and Foley. One big crook got snagged though, Dennis Pombo, the #1 congressman/lobbyist for the pollution business.

Looking at it from a long term political perspective, it was indeed a 'thumping'. The reversing of the trend towards electing conservatives is a significant event in our political history.

If you are right, and the nation is 'still...strongly Repub', then the nation HAS spoken - and what it said is damning. They are saying that, even though they lean Republican, they STILL want to hand power to the evil liberals. That in itself is extremely telling as to how they view the results of the current administration.

Our views obviously differ as to what is 'good for the country'. This administration has severely damaged this country, in a number of ways that will take years to repair. They've acted unilaterally and arrogantly, both here and abroad. They acted deceitfully and dishonestly. They've tried to show that loyal incompetency is a virtue. They've destroyed the moral reputation of the United States through their abuse of power and humanity. Having no one in office, and the resultant anarchy, would be much better than what the Bush administration has done to this country in six short years.

So, the only question is, will the Democrats do the right thing or the political thing? We'll see. Also, will the Republicans continue their destruction of our country from a minority position? I think the radical HannityRushFOX wing will, but the moderates are probably happy to have the yoke lifted from their necks and eager to get things turned around.

It's like a window finally got opened, and we can not only start to air the place out, but start to see up close what the damage really is.
