Where you get filler dirt or sand to fill holes or to raise the grade. I suppose you could get gravel and crushed rock, but on a peneplain, that is hundreds, if not thousands of feet down.

Around here, a borrow pit is a big hole, filled with water. But a hole of any size is filled with water, the water table is only a few feet below the surface.
