Saying someone is doing a good job when they are not is lying.

If you say they are doing a good job, and you think they are doing a lousy job then it is lying. If you say you think they are doing a good job on X, while ignoring the fact that they are doing a lousy job on Y, that isn't lying. Ignoring Y however could be part of "carrying water for" someone.

Like I said previously, you have a hard time reading between the lines.

You aren't even providing the lines, let alone anything between them. What specific quotes do you think were lies?
