If I understand your response, it's the following. (1) Iraqi oil is critical for the global economy but you are not offering any data to substantiate that claim. (2) As for the prospects of a regional conflict, you, like the rest of us, are searching for answers. (3) As for who is responsible for the present mess, you haven't addressed the responsibility of the Bush administration but there is the hint that you think the Iraqis themselves are responsible. Can you clarify that for me.

My own position on these questions, to repeat, are (1) I don't think Iraqi oil supplies are critical to the international economy; (2) we agree on the prospects of a regional wide conflict; (3) there's no question the Bush administration is responsible for the current mess in Iraq and will go down in history as such.

Your responses to my questions regarding oil prove my point. Most of the people talking about getting out of Iraq have no clue just how important it is. When I see a news article about some event I think first about its impact to energy. So perhaps I take for granted that others understand.

The real problem is that those who wanted to rush into Iraq had no clue about what doing so would do to the price of oil. Go look up the price of oil from 2003 on. Geez.

IIRC, Cheney made a rather foolhardy statement about what would happen to the price of a barrel of oil following the US invasion. LOL!
