Tolerant of what? Certainly not tolerant of conservatives. To my knowledge, they are the only major city in the nation that has completely outlawed the 2nd Amendment, and only cops are allowed to possess handguns there.

Go just about anywhere in the country and mention "San Francisco Values," and watch eyes roll.

Yes, I can agree with that. There is certainly a fringe element in SF that, like all fringe elements, think it's there was or the highway. But, by and large, the entire Bay Area is more diverse and tolerant than many place in the country. Certainly not reason for derision by the right in their attempt to slanderize the region with their 'San Francisco Values', which they spit out with the same contempt as they do 'liberal' and 'activist judges'.
