Seven of the first ten presidents of the United States grew pot. The British insisted that they grow it.

George Washington recorded in his diary dates for separating the males cannabis plants from the females. This is only done to increase the THC content. There is no other reason for such separation.

Were they screw-ups?

The common usage, at that time, was to blend pot with tobacco.

>avoid the fact that the vast majority of pot smokers are complete FU's .<

That may be your impression .. but a FACT??
What research do you base that statement on?

"can't get an education, have trouble working, etc. "
Thomas Jefferson .. right?

>Why haven't most of the potheads I've known confined themselves to pot?<

1. Most of the pot heads that have let you know might qualify.

2. You seem to be referring to the "gateway" theory. The vast majority of people that use pot never use any other illegal drugs. Therefor it should be called a "terminus" drug and not "gateway."

"I know a woman who says her husband has taken to smoking weed every night. Yet he still puts down a six-pack each night too. Why hasn't this guy stopped drinking?"

Perhaps he should increase the dosage.

I wonder about the people that you know ...

Doesn't every single FDA approved drug work in every single person exactly the same way?????

Of course not. Why would you expect that from pot?

the vast majority of pot smokers are complete FU's ... most neglect their kids,

LMAO.
Yeah, Richard Branson, Bill Maher , and me; the exceptions that prove the rule.
Me? Yeah, I'm not really a wharf rat. I have a house and I have a job.

"Why haven't most of the potheads I've known confined themselves to pot?"
Because, on the 6th day, God created man, and on the 8th, man discovered alcohol.

RE: "But you pro-pot guys avoid the fact that the vast majority of pot smokers are complete FU's ... most neglect their kids, can't get an education, have trouble working, etc."

Ok, as Wharf Rat did, I must LMAO. Here you describe symptoms well relating to abuse of other drugs than pot, not the least of which IS alcohol. I've known a laundry list of successful lawyers, businessmen, policemen, doctors, common high paid laborers, accountants, and etc., etc., who use pot and alcohol both. The biggest behavioral problems among them stem typically from alcohol, definitely not pot.

More to the point, the stereotype of potheads painted by you here is as very incorrect as it is well and falsely exemplified in modern american comedy culture right and left. A prime example of this is the cult classic movie "Fast Times At Ridgemont High" in which Sean Penn's character Jeff Spicolli speaks pretty much as one would if one had taken a qualude (downer). Alcohol elicits a similar symptom, and overuse of Cocaine can truly make one temporarily stupid (use of downers seems to lend a more lasting permanence to slurred speech than anything, IMHObservations). Potheads who stick to pot simply don't exhibit such traits (let alone the sort of life problems you delineate).

Truth is, stoned out of his/her gord as a pothead may feel, any experienced pothead can and typically does successfully speak so well and clearly that you couldn't tell he was high on anything from listening.

I'm quite sure the vast majority of pot smokers are NOT complete FU's, and those who are have other drugs or other factors to blame.
