It will be interesting to see if the GOP dumps Bush in the upcoming months.

If a politician is thwarted by his or her own party, it can be impossible to continue in office as damage control and self preservation becomes the modus operati of all individuals. Bush has already harmed his party in a manner that is near unforgivable in political standards.

GOP campaign donations will be drying up.

Nixon's downfall was the GOP cheek that turned against him. Clinton's salvation was a Democratic united front that supported him due to his popularity.

Bush is obviously not popular right now. This can change, but it does appear that the situation in Iraq has deteriorated too deeply.

How many days has it been since Bush declared, "Mission Accomplished," on the deck of the aircraft carrier?
