<I've never said that.>

You've stated several times that Dennett and "that other guy" were spot on. Maybe you didn't know that was their bent, but in any case, it is.

<Well...that is exactly what I said, wizard! However, I don't characterise them as "horrible" (or weak) until they have actually followed a horrible idea.>

Except you're constantly speaking about the evils of religion... as if there wouldn't simply be some other 'institution', cultural grouping, political party, etc to fill in. That's a huge 'except', and in fact is the entire thrust of your posts on this thread. Nice try though.

<What is significant is that the roles played by these actors living on the same stage in space and time is IMPORTANT to them--to US.>

Of course each individual takes that import with different grains of salt... the whole thrust of Buddhist psychology and eastern meditation techniques is to lessen that (attachment to the ego) therefore enlarging ones context of understanding relative to the self. The larger the context achieved (more advanced enlightend states) the LESS SIGNIFICANCE to the 'rolls played and attachment to the actor in space and time.'

<Again, the question of choice in HUMAN life begins and ends with consciousness. This effectively separates the human "experience" from the chain of absolute materialism. The thread is spun and then it is cut. Once cut it does not belong to the skein.>

Consciousness is not defined, fully understood, OR necessarily only human (unless you're Christian)... your statement that this separates humans from absolute materialism is big news to some big time PHD's BTW... I happen to agree... but wdfidk.

<And I certainly have nothing intrinsically against religions that DO NOT TRY to impose their values on other people>

That's a natural human trait... therefore..... well, you get it.

<Huh? You are on another of your wishywashy tangents. I don't want to burn religious dogma! Sheesh! But in the search for understanding and for harmony it is most often a huge obstacle..

You're kidding right... that's all you do here. In fact, you go futher stating that there is no truth in any relgious teachings... the teachers didn't even exist in some cases! LOL You're a trip.
