>I think your opinion is based mostly on the fact you like pot and want to smoke it legally.<

I have several medical conditions that my doctor would write a prescription for if he could do so legally. We've discussed it several times.

Do I like it? Yes I do. Even more so since I spent six months on the edge of vomiting every day. And then later finding out that the pot may have been the deciding factor that got me curred of Hep-C.

IOW it may have saved my life.

The FDA and the department of Health and Human services, the DEA, FBI and all the rest of that alphabet soup have now shown themselves to be in the way of saving lives. They need to get out of the way ASAP.

That's the medical side.

I'll respond to more of your post with another post of my own in a little while.

>I'd like to see the studies - not simply a statement that your opinion is based on scientific studies. <

Holy cow!! I listed off a whole bunch of stuff.

Please feed me the statements one at a time and I'll do my best to show you my sources.

For instance

You said something like most pot smokers are FU's low lifes.

I assumed that you were talking about someone that smoked large quantities every day and produced the 10%, 15%, 35% numbers I'd seen in a article.

I'm going to spend some time and try to locate that study for you.

If there is another one that you would like to have me produce, please point it out.

here is one study :

The Relative Abuse Potential of Marijuana: "Compared with other licit social drugs, such as alcohol, tobacco, and caffeine, marijuana does not pose greater risks." Hollister, L.E.(1986), "Health Aspects of Cannabis", Pharmacological Reviews, 38:1, 1-20. pg. 17.

Here may have been where I saw those numbers:

quote
ALLEGATION #9
“The truth is that marijuana is addictive. … Marijuana users have an addiction rate of about 10%, and of the 5.6 million drug users who are suffering from illegal drug dependence or abuse, 62 percent are dependent on or abusing marijuana.”

TRUTH
Marijuana use is not marijuana abuse. According to the US Institute of Medicine’s 1999 Report: “Marijuana and Medicine: Assessing the Science Base,” “Millions of Americans have tried marijuana, but most are not regular users, … [and] few marijuana users become dependent on it.”68 In fact, less than 10 percent of marijuana users ever exhibit symptoms of dependence (as defined by the American Psychiatric Association's DSM-IV criteria.)69 By comparison 15 percent of alcohol users, 17 percent of cocaine users, and a whopping 32 percent of cigarette smokers statistically exhibit symptoms of drug dependence.70

here are footnotes 68,69 and 70:
