I recently saw someone with a windows lap and a [oscilloscope] box that plugged into USB - all the functions are in the box, the PC does the display and control commands. Nice if it was on a Mac. Probably is, somewhere.

The perfect challenge for BootCamp, Parallels, and other virtualization software.

BTW, how fast can these USB boxes sample? Doubt its near the GHz range you desire, maybe 1/10 or 1/5 would be the best I would expect. If USB is the bottleneck, there's Firewire 800, or ExpressCard, but it might be a while before anyone goes that route.
