For context though it should be noted (not surprisingly) that smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol also have effects on IQ.

Effects on IQ, or a correlation with lower IQ?

The 1st link seems to show a correlation, not an established causation.

The 2nd link does seem to show some evidence of cause and effect for diminished grey matter.

I only see the abstract from the third link, but it doesn't seem to show cause and effect.
