I doubt that everything in Mexico is A ok. That last election was very dubious considering the Political winds blowing through Latin America.

You 'gringos" only see what you want to see. IMO the Mexican Government needs to be overthrown and the rightists executed.

leftists indeed! and what is a "leftist"? Someone who dislike oppression?

IMO investing in mexico is very dangerous in a world where everyone is rejecting the USA

You see the problem is the population of Mexico is terrorized so they don't speak whats on their minds. You need to go back and see the reality of life in Mexico.

"In fact, I never see reports on the alledged violence appearing on reputable news outlets, it is always these leftist fly-by-night websites that seem to be playing up the unrest angle"

You need help sir.

What is a reputable news site in your opinion? Fox News? CNN?

<<I dont see any 'unrest in Mexico' from there, but I guess I should pay more attention to the people who dont know what they are talking about and have never been to Mexico except to hang out on a beach.>>

Well you know zoo york.
THat could well be me, because thats why I go: to hang out and sit, well mostly surf on the beach.
Thank you for that smart and realistic post. It makes good sense.
I have been traveling their by car and trailer, living on remote beaches for three years now and it has been wonderful. Some of the roads are a little skitzo but otherwise no complaints.
I do have fears of this new political problem as it only takes one uninformed radical freik to mess everything up for you.
BUt when it comes to mining and business in Mexico it seems clear they would all understand that us northerners provide jobs.
But they also see a lot of the money leaving town.
In my personal travels I see local craftsmen in Guerrerro (sp?) building huge mansions for northen whities for 10-11 bucks a day. They are not happy.
the atmosphere is not the same as when we were in Asia in the early 90s.
THere is resentment.
We travel light and cheap and their is usually no problemo as we don't have much to turn heads.
Still I don't think I will be putting any money back in till after I see what inauguration day brings.
