I don't know. 4 years was long enough for me, but even for me it came hard. Being a lifelong Republican isn't something you throw away easily. I suspect there are many others that find it difficult because they simply can't stomach voting for Democrats to get rid of Bush. I guess it's easier for me, because I came to the conclusion that the single most important issue of our age is getting off the oil. Given that, the Democrats are the more likely group to do something about that for this country. So voting for them became an obvious choice, even though I agree with very little else the Democrats believe in.
