The Marine Corps sent me to Construction Surveyor's school at Fort Belvoir. I was there some 3 months for school and that gave me lots of time to visit in and around D.C. We spent half a day at Arlington. Saw the changing of the guard. A sight I'll never forget. Ditto the Marine Corps Memorial.

In spite of having ample time there, I wasted much of it and didn't see near enough history. That's a price one pays at age 18.

A good friend's son has been selected to be trained for the Military Honor Guard. His parents are really honored and proud. I haven't talked to her for a long time since she moved, but I do remember this boy and am really proud too.

I think you are saying that your mother was buried at Arlington, but I'm not sure? If so, did she serve in the Military?
