They hate Bush and get excited easily over nothing. Clinton lied and got caught, they're trying to play catch up. Something I heard Bush say later was he didn't want the next question. That would have been who was the new guy when he didn't have one.

The left hate Rumsfeld going back decades.

Yes, he should have done that and some of them still need to be fired.

Rummie also developed a regal trait that spilled over to his major underlings. All of them talked exclusively to 3 and 4 star generals for their info. That too was a mistake. Our combatant commanders are 2 star and below.

Perhaps the biggest mistake that continues to be made is not relying on input from our unconventional warfare (UW) expert leaders in the decision making process. Since the war became unconventional some three star Army Generals have been saying any combat unit can do UW and they have proved themselves wrong, but nobody will admit that yet.
