At the other end of the spectrum are some friends of ours. In the past two years they have had 4 dogs, and I was shocked to learn they just got another. They tend to have these dogs a month or so, then decide they don't like the personality, whatever, and give them away. What kind of a message does that send to the kids, that it is acceptable to adopt a dog and then get rid of it 30 days later because you decided it has too much energy for you? That's not only bad for the kids but it's rough on the poor dogs as well. I've said millions of times and I stand by it. You should have to have a licence to have kids and animals. You have to have licenses to own a gun, drive a care, hunt, practice law and medicine. You're talking about two very precious living things in this world and we treat both with very little respect and dignity at times. It's really screwed up if you ask me.
