As I understand it, the US mostly gives Israel the money to buy US armaments. It has nothing to do with the Israeli people, freedom, the holocaust, whatever...it's to do with MONEY for their friends in the 'defense' industries. It allegedly start as bribe monies for Egypt and Israel to keep the peace. Carter is the only Pres that's pulled off a lasting peace accord in the region.[No doubt that pi$$es conservatives off to no end.] The deal has held and Israelis enjoy holidays in Egypt from time to time; no to mention the women that are "smuggled" across the border into Israel for sex slaves. Eventually, the rationale migrated to a ... "Israel is the only democracy in the mid-east. Though I never understood what being a democracy had to do with giving money away". But now that we have 3 democracies in the mid-east [Israel, Iraq and Afghanistan] we can stop funding Israel. jttmab
